of Labor & Delivery experience. Must have mother-baby experience.
Must have experience to attend deliveries and provide newborn care,
triage, and postpartum couplet care. Must have experience with
magnesium. Charge nurse experience preferred. Description: The
department has 14 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum beds.
There are 2 operating room suites on the unit for C-sections.
Registered Nurses will circulate and recover patients. The unit has
4 triage beds. The average number of births per month is 90,
totaling 1200 per year. Staffing follows established guidelines for
nurse-to-patient ratios. Labor support is typically 1:1 unless
pairing cervical ripening patients. Postpartum care follows a 1:3
couplet care model. Triage nursing follows a 1:3 ratio, with
resource nurses utilized for increased patient loads. Common
patient diagnoses include hypertension, gestational diabetes, and
antepartum cases. The facility serves a diverse patient population.
Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin and
magnesium protocols. An administrative supervisor is present on
every shift to support charge nurses. Resource and triage nurses
may start their shifts with no patients assigned. Resource nurses
assist with breaks and attend all deliveries. There is a certified
surgical tech and a CNA scheduled per shift, though coverage can be
impacted by staffing changes. An OB hospitalist and a neonatal
nurse practitioner are available 24/7. Anesthesia services are also
available 24/7. Respiratory therapy is on hand for equipment
troubleshooting. Telemetry technicians are not present; nurses must
read their own strips. The unit has EFM capabilities but requires
transfer to higher care for extensive monitoring needs. Scheduling
allows for flexibility, with travelers filling schedule gaps.
Weekend and holiday requirements depend on unit needs and staff
requests. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating is
required to various sites within the designated area. Travel duos
will need separate transportation due to potential site rotation.
Scrubs must be hospital-issued and changed at the start and end of
each shift. The facility has a no fingernail lacquer policy to
maintain compliance. Travelers are often invited to extend their
