Job Description Location: Onsite at Hospital Facility Position Type: Consulting / Contract Position Overview We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Infectious Disease Physician to provide onsite consultative services at an acute care hospital. This role supports inpatient teams through expert infectious disease consultation, infection prevention oversight, and antimicrobial stewardship, while collaborating closely with hospital leadership and clinical staff. This position is ideal for an ID physician seeking consultative hospital work without a traditional employed structure. Key Responsibilities Provide onsite infectious disease consultations for inpatient services Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, surgeons, and nursing teams Support and participate in the hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Advise on infection prevention and control practices , including outbreak response Review complex cases involving resistant organisms and healthcare-associated infections Assist with policy development , clinical guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives Participate in medical staff meetings, case reviews, and staff education as needed Support regulatory compliance (CMS, Joint Commission, state health requirements) Qualifications MD or DO with completion of an Infectious Disease fellowship Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease Active, unrestricted state medical license (hospital privileges required) Experience in acute care hospital settings strongly preferred Strong interdisciplinary communication and leadership skills Schedule & Compensation Onsite coverage schedule to be determined Competitive consulting compensation based on experience and coverage requirements Malpractice coverage provided Why This Opportunity Hands-on clinical impact in a hospital environment Flexible engagement structure Opportunity to influence infection control, stewardship, and patient safety initiatives
