The Residence Life Manager position is a live-in position within Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) Residence Halls. Under the direct supervision of the Residence Life Director, the Manager establishes a cohesive and responsible community in the TVCC Residence Halls; models and supports issues related to diversity; facilitates the holistic development of residents through programming; promotes resident involvement; refers, advises, and supports residents as they deal with academic and personal issues; enforces and abides by the policies of the Residence Life Department, Treasure Valley Community College, Federal and Oregon State laws in the residence halls; participates in and facilitates a team approach with co-workers; completes necessary administrative tasks; and provides appropriate customer service to students and visitors.
QUALIFICATIONS
MANDATORY: Associates degree or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties. This position must have effective organizational, written, oral, conflict management and managerial leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to facilitate group activities. Work independently for extended periods of time.

SPECIAL: Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Job Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Community Building : In order to establish a cohesive community, the Manager is personally available to residents; provides opportunities for interaction and promotes resident involvement; encourages the expression of diversity among residents and actively facilitates an environment of acceptance; acts as a role model to residents; mediates conflict when appropriate. The Manager is expected to maintain a presence in the residence halls, especially during peak times when residents are active on the floor.

Academic: The Manager is expected to orient students to TVCC student services; encourage behavior that contributes to academic success; refer students to proper academic advising channels; establish a community environment which is conducive to studying and respects the rights of other residents to sleep and study.

Resource and Referral : The Manager is responsible for referring residents to appropriate College and community resources as they deal with academic and personal issues. Such referrals require the Manager to be knowledgeable about resources, responsive to requests and available for follow-up. The Manager is expected to respond immediately to crisis situations.

Policy Enforcement : This position is responsible for the safe operation of the residence halls and the general health and safety of the residents. The Manager must be knowledgeable of all general residence hall operations and must utilize independent discretion for any situation or crisis that may occur at the residence halls and must exercise independent and sometimes immediate discretion when necessary. Furthermore, the Manager is responsible for consistent enforcement of all policies of the Residence Life Department, TVCC, Federal and Oregon State law. This involves the education of residents on housing policies, the establishment of an environment that promotes personal responsibility, and the encouragement of participation in upholding policies.

Teamwork : The Manager is responsible for contributing to positive work relationships; participating as a team member in achieving the stated goals of the residence hall and staff; cooperating with staff members and supporting team projects; demonstrating an acceptance for differences in style; establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with custodial, food service, desk staff, maintenance and other department personnel.

Administrative : This position requires the direct day-to-day management of the residence halls, including supervision of residence assistants and work grant/study employees. In addition, the Manager is responsible for the following operational and administrative duties: assist with check-in and check-out procedures; document all policy infractions; complete necessary paperwork and reports; process applications; complete duty responsibilities and office shifts; report and follow up on maintenance needs; attend designated meetings; and complete any other duties assigned by the Residence Life Director.
